A little bit about Bachata...

Bachata originated in the Dominican Republic and was originally danced to the country's traditional guitar music with love, sorry and heartache as the common lyrical themes. Bachata is now danced all over the world having developed different styles and flavours including

Dominican Style

Traditional/Caribbean Style

Modern/European Style

Romantica

Bachatango

The basic step of bachata is very simple and easy to place to the distinct bachata rhythm. Dancers step on beats 1, 2 and 3 and then on the 4th beat of each bar dancers can add a hip accent, foot tap or one of many other variations.

Bachata Tango...
Bachata Tango or Bachatango is a fusion of Dominican Bachata, and Argentine Tango; two exotic street dances. Together these two dance styles create a beautiful and passionate partner dance. The 4 step pattern and sensual body movement familiar to Bachata dancers are fused with the flicks, kicks, slides and dramatic pauses of Tango. This is a beautiful, elegant dance that creates both a sensual, close, spellbinding dance partnership and still allows each dancer the freedom to express their personal style and flavour.

Bachata Rueda...
Bachata Rueda is a new and fun way for Bachata dancers to dance with a partner as part of bigger group. Similar to Casino de Rueda, Bachata Rueda groups have a ‘caller’ who gives instructions to the dancers to perform a whole range of different moves all based around a circle formation. The synchronicity and coordination of the couples in the circle gives the dance a flow and dynamism all of its own creating beautiful shapes and patterns on the floor.
